  • Lisa Donovan Lukas is a composer, songwriter, teacher, and pianist from California. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. After graduating from USC, Lisa studied composition and orchestration with Albert Harris and William Kraft, and songwriting with Lehman Engel. She worked for many years as a proofreader-copyist for film composers at Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Disney, and JoAnn Kane Music Service. Her songs have appeared in film and television and accolades include MTAC Composers Today awards and ASCAP Plus honors, both Popular Division and Concert Division awards.  

    Lisa’s original piano pieces are published by Piano Pronto Publishing.  She is a Signature Artist for Musicnotesthe leading online digital sheet music retailer in the world.  Lisa also publishes legally licensed piano arrangements with Sheet Music Plus.  

    As a featured American Composer with the BMTG Intercontinental Piano Competition, Lisa has had her compositions performed by winning pianists at Carnegie Hall in 2018 and 2019. Her piano music is featured in the National Federation of Music Clubs Bulletin, and is on the accepted repertoire lists for the CAPMT Piano Auditions programs. 

    Lisa is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, and the Music Teachers Association of California. She maintains an active piano studio where she enjoys teaching piano, music composition, and songwriting.  Lisa is the author of the Amazon best selling book on songwriting: The Young Musician's Guide to Songwriting, and remains passionate about passing on the magical craft of playing and creating music to future generations.

    In addition to her works for piano, Lisa has written numerous orchestral, chamber and vocal compositions. She has sung for studio vocal sessions (film & TV songs, cartoons, commercials) and has performed as a pianist/vocalist in numerous popular clubs, restaurants, hotels, and nightspots in Los Angeles, Switzerland and on cruise ships around the world.   

    Lisa is a member of ASCAP - the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, The Professional Musician’s Union – Local 47, SAG-AFTRA, MTAC - The Music Teachers' Association of California, and MTNA – The Music Teacher’s National Association.
